An autumn without orange is not complete -----How to create a Thanksgiving bouquet

Updated: Dec 27, 2018

As the weather cools, you don't even need a calendar to know that fall is here in all its glory.. How can JZ miss an opportunity to create beautiful arrangements with the flaming autumn flowers and foliage.

On November 17, 2018, we held a workshop with all the flower lovers to make a Thanksgiving bouquet, a simple but festive gift for family and friends.

The materials used to frame the piece were long-lasting foliage which still looked lovely when they dried. The orange winter berries and Japanese Lanterns demand attention with their striking color and unique form. The Japanese lantern plants (Physalis alkekengi) produces a paper-like calyx around its seed that resembles an Asian lantern. Japanese lantern flowers bloom in midsummer and set fruit and form lanterns in late summer and fall. Though the papery flowers are easily dropped during transportation and flower arranging, we can still wire it back to its branch and tape it with floral tape. Ilex branch is another highlight in the piece, as they add incredible lines, depth, and height, as well as delivering a strong statement with their fascicular berries.

Finally, I chose peach color Gerbera as the focal flower and a white spray of roses as accent flowers to balance the overall color combination and add another angle to the piece.

You will find the whole arrangement is in a V-shape, which is a perfect match for a long container. We can also call it an asymmetrical triangle. In fact, triangle is the most often used shape in flower arrangements.
